Foraging

I went on a lovely hike a couple of days ago and was lucky to find some really nice oyster mushrooms or "pleurotes" in French.

I harvested a nice quantity and once back home they made a delicious side dish, simply sautéed with a little butter, a clove of garlic, salt and pepper and finely chopped parsley for a green taste.

Need to go hiking again!

* I arrived home from work on Valentines Day to find the fire built, the table set and fabulous aromas wafting from my kitchen. My boyfriend surprised me with an amazing private dinner prepared by Chef Anne. Every detail, from the fresh baked bread to the lemon tart dessert, was wonderful. Many of the ingredients came from Anne’s organic garden. Anne, a delightful lady, seemingly effortlessly prepared this incredible meal, and served it with little details about what we were eating as well as some interesting tidbits about her background. Towards the end of the meal she announced that the dessert was awaiting us and she would disappear so we could enjoy the rest of the evening. She left the kitchen spotless.
